About our Organization:
Amici Italiani of Queen of Peace (hereinafter “Amici Italiani”) (the Italian Club) is dedicated to performing and contributing to community services. Our group in the past provided a number of instructors for the English as a Second Language (ESL) program at Queen of Peace. We also sponsored health screenings at the church for a nominal rate, with half of the proceeds being donated to Queen of Peace. We annually contribute to Queen of Peace Church, St. Andrews House for the homeless and a local Battered Women’s shelter.
Amici Italiani also engages in many other activities outside our monthly meetings. We planned and coordinated the first International Rosary at Queen of Peace, where the decades of the Rosary were recited in several different languages, reflecting the diversity of our parish. We participate in some of Aurora’s Gateway to the Rockies Parades (usually held in September) and we won first prize for non-performing float in the first year. We also made a trip to Pueblo to visit the Italian Cultural Museum and dined in an excellent local Italian restaurant. We attend the annual St. Joseph’s Day Mass held in the beautiful old Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church located in Denver’s Little Italy. At times, we also help out at the spaghetti dinner that follows the Mass.
A Mass in Italian is held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church on the first Sunday of every month (“Prima Domenica Mass”). Some of our members regularly attend this Mass and enjoy going to the Cultural Reception held in the Parish Hall afterwards. We also participate in the Columbus Day Parade. Several of our members attend other Italian cultural events in the metro area throughout the year
Meetings:
Amici Italiani is open to parishioners from any church in the metropolitan area, regardless of ethnic background If you enjoy good food, good music and great conversation, please join us for one of our monthly meetings at Queen of Peace. Our meetings are held the second Saturday of every month (except December) from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. We enjoy getting to know one another in a pleasant atmosphere where we have a raffle, enjoy good coffee and refreshments provided by the members. We recognize our members’ birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions .
We dedicate our prayers and support to members and their families in their time of need. Every August we get together for a picnic. We end the year by having a Christmas dinner party, at which time the officers of the club elected for the coming year are installed.
Meetings:
Amici Italiani meets the Second Saturday of every month from 10:00 a.m. - Noon.
