CONFIRMATION GUIDELINES
Attendance:
In order to fully understand the grace of the sacrament of confirmation it is imperative for students to fully participate in the preparation journey. Although we understand that our lives and the lives of our students is filled with many activities, we ask that you adhere to the guidelines as follows:
-
Students are required to attend Sunday evening classes on a regular basis.
-
Students who miss class will be required to make up class work, which needs to be turned in to class instructor.
-
Students who miss more than 3 classes will need to set an appointment with Norma in order to review status and intent of sacrament.
-
Pure By Choice – This conference/rally on purity is an intricate part of the curriculum and students who miss the conference need to have an understanding of calling by God on purity, therefore, students who miss are required to write a paper on purity to be presented to their individual classes.
-
All students are required to do the chapter on Christian Morality – pages 86-92 in their Student Handbook and turn in pages 91& 92 after attending the Pure by Choice conference. This assignment is suggested to be done as a family project with one or more parents.
Confirmation Retreat:
As a part of the confirmation journey, students, along with their sponsor, will attend the Confirmation Retreat held in January. As we will be giving you ample notice of the date for this retreat, we ask that make adequate arrangements for the Confirmandi and sponsor that will avoid conflicting on this weekend. More details regarding the weekend will be handed out in class.
Service Hours:
Five (5) services hours are required of each student. These services hours must be completed at Queen of Peace. There are many various ways to complete the 5 hours such as; helping Sunday morning Nazareth, Preschool or Special Needs programs, assisting St. Andrews and/or St. Vincent De Paul, Funfest, and much, much more. A list of opportunities will be provided to students in class.
Five (5) Mass hours are required of each student. These Mass hours must be completed at the 5:00pm Youth Mass where students will assist in serving the Mass as lectors, ushers and other responsibilities.
