Jesus said to his apostles, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained’ (John 20:22-23). The effects of the sacrament of Penance are: reconciliation with God and therefore the forgiveness of sins; reconciliation with the Church; recovery, if it has been lost, of the state of grace; remission of the eternal punishment merited by mortal sins, and remission, at least in part, of the temporal punishment which is the consequence of sin; peace, serenity of conscience and spiritual consolation; and an increase of spiritual strength for the struggle of Christian living.

First Reconciliation and First Communion at Queen of Peace

About Our Family-Based Preparation Program:

We believe that parents are the best teachers for their children, and set the example for their children on how to lead a Catholic life. Twice a month (while their children are in Religious Education classes), parents will attend programs designed to prepare them to introduce upcoming topics and lessons to their children. Our preparation program for these Sacraments is an 18-month program, consisting of two consecutive terms (2 years). Students in our traditional program will complete Year A during First Grade, and Year B during their Second Grade year. We use the Faith and Life book series for our program.

All student classes will be held either on Monday evening from 6:00 - 7:30 pm or on Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Students must attend weekly Mass with their families, and will be expected to provide proof of attendance.

Please pick up a packet at the office.

Students enrolled in this sacramental program must be baptized. A copy of the Baptismal Certificate must be provided at registration.
