In conjunction with our feast, Pope Leo XIV has asked Catholics worldwide to observe a special day of fasting and prayer, particularly for peace in regions afflicted by conflict, including Ukraine, the Holy Land, and others. He invites the faithful to offer this day in prayer and fasting “imploring the Lord to grant us peace and justice, and to dry the tears of those who suffer”(Catholic News Agency, Aug. 14, 2025).
