Celebrate 48 Years

EVERYONE IS INVITED TO CELEBRATE 48 YEARS OF GOD’S FAITHFULNESS TO QUEEN OF PEACE!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Next Sunday, we will commemorate Queen of Peace's 48th anniversary. Whether you've been a parishioner since day one or whether this is your first time at the parish, I invite all of you to participate in the day's festivities. Our loving Father has been very good to us, planting a seed in the hearts of our founders to start this parish, leading our brothers and sisters through its foundation, and calling us all from different parts of the world to come be a part of this growing family of faith. At a time when churches throughout the world are going empty and closing down, we are blessed to have a parish home that isdynamic and full of the Holy Spirit. I am amazed and grateful to see our rooms packed during our religious    education classes, to see our parish alive with much activity weekday nights, and to see so many of you commit your time and talents to serve the Church. These are all signs of God working in and through us, and this celebration is a time for us to rejoice and celebrate His faithfulness to Queen of Peace in these last 48 years.

Because our Lord never stops giving, He is granting us an opportunity to spend time together as parish brothers and sisters to enjoy each other's company as well as some food and music. It's an opportunity to break   barriers and divisions. The anniversary celebration will be an all-day event, beginning after the 7:30 am Mass, and ending after the 7:00 pm. After each Mass, we'll head to the Great Room for breakfast, lunch, or dinner - depending on the time of day. Brothers and sisters from different ministries are providing the food, and you'll be able to choose from all-American, Mexican, Filipino, Italian dishes and much more! The cost of an individual meal will be between $5- $8 and about $20 for a family meal. We will have light music in the morning and a live band in the afternoon. Many of our brothers and sisters are giving their time and talents to make this all happen - planning, organizing, cooking, setting up, cleaning, etc. Therefore, I invite you to consider this, not simply as an occasion of eating out, but rather, as an opportunity of fellowship with your parish family.

During this anniversary celebration, we will also be showing a short video about the history of our parish. You'll see how far the Lord has taken us in these last 48 years and how faithful He has been, even in our times of challenge and difficulty. You'll see some familiar faces from the past and present, and you'll get a good look at just how active our parish life is. Beyond looking at the past, the video will invite us to look ahead and prayerfully consider the future of our parish and how it is to fulfill its mission of being a missionary parish that goes out to joyfully announce the Good News.

I'm very happy to be celebrating this feast for the first time, and I encourage you all to be a part of the beautiful history God is creating at Queen of Peace.

TODOS INVISTADOS A CELEBAR 48 AÑOS DE FIDELIDAD DE DIOS A REINA DE LA PAZ

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,

El próximo domingo, conmemoraremos el 48 aniversario de Reina de la Paz. Si han sido feligreses desde el primer día o si esta es su primera vez en la parroquia, de igual manera los invito a todos a participar en las festividades del día. Nuestro Padre amoroso ha sido tan bueno con nosotros, plantando una semilla en los corazones de nuestros fundadores para iniciar esta parroquia, guiando a nuestros hermanos a través de su fundación, y llamándonos a todos nosotros, de diferentes partes del mundo para venir a formar parte de esta familia de fe que sigue creciendo. En estos tiempos en los que   iglesias alrededor del mundo están vacías o están cerrando, estamos bendecidos de tener una parroquia dinámica y llena del Espíritu Santo. Me siento asombrado y agradecido de ver a nuestros salones llenos durante las clases de educación religiosa, de ver a nuestra parroquia viva y con mucha actividad durante las tardes, y de ver a tantos de ustedes comprometerse a servir a la parroquia con su tiempo y talentos.  Estas son señales de Dios trabajando en y por medio de nosotros, y esta celebración es un momento para estar alegres y celebrar Sufidelidad a Reina de la Paz en estos 48 años.

Ya que nuestro Señor nunca se cansa de dar, nos está otorgando una oportunidad para pasar tiempo juntos como hermanos, para disfrutar de la compañía de otros, de comida y música. Esta es una oportunidad para romper barreras y divisiones. La celebración será de todo el día, desde después de la Misa de 7:30 am yterminando después de la de 7:00 pm. Después de cada Misa, iremos a la iglesia viejita para desayunar, almorzar, o cenar – dependiendo de la hora del día. Hermanos de diferentes ministerios proveerán la comida, y podrán disfrutar de comida americana, mexicana, filipina, italiana, entre otra. El costo de una comida individual será de entre $5 - $8 y alrededor de $20 por una comida familiar. Tendremos música ligera en la mañana y un grupo en vivo en la tarde. Muchos de nuestros hermanos están dando de su tiempo y talentos para hacer todo esto posible – planeando,      organizando, cocinando, acomodando, limpiando, etc. Así que los invito a considerar esto, no simplemente como una ocasión para comer fuera, sino una oportunidad de compañerismo con su familia parroquial.

Durantela celebración, mostraremos un corto video acerca de la historia de nuestra parroquia. Verán que tanlejos nos ha llevado el Señor en estos últimos 48 años y que tan fiel ha sido con nosotros, incluso en los  momentos de desafío y dificultad. Verán a algunos rostros familiares del pasado y del presente, y verán que tan activa es la vida parroquial. Más allá de ver el pasado, el video nos invitara a vera hacia adelante y en oración, considerar el futuro de nuestra parroquia y como está cumpliendo su misión de ser una parroquia misionera que anuncia la Buena   Nueva con alegría.

Estoy feliz de celebra esta fiesta por primera vez, y los animo a ser parte de la bella historia que Dios está construyendo en Reina de la Paz.
