AT THE END OF ADVENT: THE NATIVITY SCENE PREPARES US TO RECEIVE GOD'S INCARNATION!

The Nativity of our Lord is the culmination of a long history of God trying to come closer and closer to humanity. God has become involved in human history to the point of becoming man Himself. Now and forever God is one of us, and man is part of God. Though sin has the power to separate us from God, the Incarnation has even a greater power: man and God can be fully united in the person of Christ. The Creator has become a creature. Now, human history is divine history.

El Nacimiento de nuestro Señor es la culminación de una larga historia de Dios intentando acercarse cada vez más a la humanidad. Dios se ha involucrado en la historia humana hasta el punto de convertirse en hombre Él mismo. Ahora y para siempre Dios es uno de nosotros, y el hombre es parte de Dios. Aunque el pecado tiene el poder de separarnos de Dios, la Encarnación tiene incluso un poder mayor: el hombre y Dios pueden estar plenamente unidos en la persona de Cristo. El Creador se ha convertido en una criatura. Ahora bien, la historia humana es historia divina.

IN ADVENT, LET’S TURN TO MARY WHO TEACHES US TO RECEIVE OUR LORD

On this Third Sunday of Advent, we rejoice because the coming of our Lord at Christmas is almost here! Advent is a time of preparation for the coming of Christ – not just at Christmas – but also in our hearts and in our lives. In the second reading today, St. James encourages us to “Make your hearts firm, because the coming of the Lord is at hand” (Jas 5:7-10). How do we make our hearts firm for his coming? How do we prepare ourselves? Let’s turn to our Blessed Mother, who teaches us how to receive him.

¡En este Tercer Domingo de Adviento, nos alegramos porque ya casi llega la venida de nuestro Señor en Navidad! El Adviento es un tiempo de preparación para la venida de Cristo, no sólo en Navidad, sino también en nuestros    corazones y en nuestras vidas. En la segunda lectura de hoy, Santiago nos anima, diciendo: "Mantengan firme el ánimo, porque la venida del Señor está cerca." (Santiago 5:7-10). ¿Cómo mantenemos firme el ánimo para su venida? ¿Cómo nos preparamos? Acudamos a nuestra Madre Santísima, que nos enseña a cómo recibirlo.

​DO NOT MISS THE JOYFUL EXPECTATION OF ADVENT! “COME, LORD JESUS!”

Since the establishment of the date of Christmas on December 25th, Advent began to take shape in the life of the Church as a time of preparation in order to keep the faithful away from the pagan rituals leading to the preexisting civil feast of the Sun. It is a time of joyful expectation for the coming of Christ.  To better prepare us, I would like to offer a few simple reflections on this beautiful season of the liturgical year. 

 

Desde que se estableció el 25 de diciembre como fecha de Navidad, el Adviento comenzó a tomar forma en la vida de la Iglesia como un tiempo de preparación para mantener a los fieles alejados de los rituales paganos que existían antes celebrando la fiesta del Sol. Este es un tiempo alegre de esperanza alegre por la venida del Señor. Para prepararnos, me gustaría ofrecer un par de simples reflexiones sobre esta bella temporada del año litúrgico.
