bUILDING cHRIST'S COMMUNITY TOGETHER

Why do we need a new parish center?

Queen of Peace is blessed to have almost 100 different ministries, more than 1,200 students in our religious education programs; an average of 80 weddings, 600 baptisms, 400 confirmations, and more than 2,000 adults attending our faith formation classes each year. Over 12,000 people use our facilities every week! We are blessed to host the only soup kitchen in the city of Aurora, which serves more than 30,000 people each year. Saint Vincent de Paul society helps an average of 50 needy families in our community every week. Our English as a Second Language School has more than 250 students enrolled.

However, our buildings have reached an irreparable state of deterioration. Rebuilding isn’t a luxury, it’s an urgent necessity.Queen of peace needs a new parish center that can accommodate all of our ministries in a functional and safe place, where everyone may have an encounter with Christ.

Our new building will provide areas of encounter with God and love with our neighbor, such as the new parish hall, where we can celebrate large events and receptions, a seniors’ room, a nursery center, where children may feel safe and welcome in the Church, a youth room, religious store where we can access Catholic materials and gifts, a café where we can sit and spend time with each other. Faith formation will become a whole new experience – with ample, well-equipped classrooms. Our new St. Vincent de Paul, Gabriel House, and Respect Life offices will allow us to continue serving our brothers and sisters in need. More than a building, we are building Christ’s community together.

DAMAGE

Our current facilities are in an irreparable state - with shingles containing asbestos and falling off the wall, a deterioration foundation, the Great Room not up to code, mold in Nevin Hall, cracked sidewalks and more.

making a pledge

What is the Capital Campaign?                                                                                                                                          This Campaign is conducted as a parish wide effort to raise a minimum of $5 million through pledges to be paid over a five year period. This campaign will enable us to build a new Parish Center. Our parishioners have been involved through listening sessions, community meetings and a feasibility study. Every parishioner will be asked to participate in this campaign.

Why is making a pledge important?                                                                                                                                       A very important reason for making a pledge is that the Archdiocese of Denver extends construction loans and gives consideration towards approval of actual construction, taking into account the total amount received in pledges. Since this project has clearly emerged from expressed and verified needs of our parish community, for the campaign to be  successful every member of the parish needs to give serious consideration to his/her own responsibility to make a pledge. All gifts are welcome. However, one-time, out of pocket giving will not enable us to reach our goal. Therefore, we are asking everyone to give in a sacrificial manner. We are not asking for equal giving but equal sacrifice. We ask you to consider a five-year pledge. You may determine how you fulfill your pledge with weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly payments.

How are pledges made?                                                                                                                                                          A pledge may be honored in the form of cash, check payable to Queen of Peace Capital Campaign, through credit card, securities, life insurance, real estate, individual retirement account distributions, etc. Please make sure you fill out a pledge card available in the church and parish office and keep track of your pledge number.
